That's what you get for trying to be a good friend.
I asked you nicely to please help me get it back before the evening. You said it was fine, and that it would be ready around 5 and you would give me a call.
Even until it was 6, there was no news. Please don't mess around with my anger.
I didn't call you personally because I knew you had classes. Out of respect I smsed you and even caught you online.
It was urgent, why can't you understand that.
You switched off both your phones when you said you would call me by 5. If It was really urgent and I needed it by 6, this would have been the end of our friendship.
But knowing you, I left a leeway of a few hours. But I really needed my stuff back.
If I had missed a funeral of a friend, my conscience would bother me till no end.
I was already shocked and sadden and having you to add another emotion to that was unbearable.
Please know that I am this close to bursting it all out on you.
Your apologies which I received online this afternoon does not cut it. Not one bit.
A true friend would understand why I said urgent when I did.
A real friend would take the trouble to honor her words and call me when she said she would.
A friend would not totally blow me off and left me hanging dry just like that.
You gave me no news at all. Not a word.
If I hadn't had your number,
If your mother hadn't been at home,
I would not be able to get back anything at all.
But instead, I had to personally call your mother and ask her to help find my things.
Thank you, auntie.
And thank you for dropping off the remainder of my things at my house later on, when I had to rush off.
I stand firm on my words. I loaned you something which was important to me. And I did it because I believe you would take good care of it. Even when you gave me only a hour's notice that morning.
I have never been so wrong.
The trouble I went through to borrow what I don't have to complete it,
To try get back the things which were mine in time for the funeral,
A funeral which I would have missed because of you.

Life
I get the feeling that life is like walking on a thin, narrow, strip of rope, which lies atop 2 cliffs.
To hear of 3 deaths just within 2 days really does make you reflect back on things. Kinda makes you wonder why the birds are still singing and the sun still shinning a bright glow of tangy orange.
I'm currently on a short one week holidays but this totally ruins it.
Mum and dad came back yesterday afternoon on a half day leave. Surprised, I asked them for the reason. That's when mum replied that they saw in the newspaper the obituary of a distant relative's mother-in-law. I would say distant, because it's the side of her adopted father, although they're tentatively cousins. So, being dutiful as they alwaysa re, they took half the day off to pay their respects.
Somewhere in the evening, as dad and I (got dragged along) went to Taipan, to get some of his chores done, another call came through. We were feasting on the loklok steamboat truck thing. Mum called.
Dad turned to me and said, we have another funeral to attend to tonight.
Me: OMAIGOSH, seriously?
Dad: Mum just called and said 'tai wok' (huge disaster)
Me: No way....this is really weird, 2 in a day?
Dad: I thought she meant the 'wok' had problems, so she can't cook.
Me: hahaha. But really, which side is it now?
Dad: Her cousin's husband.
Me: err....so....
Dad: Her adopted mum's side.
Me: Oh...
But really, call me cold hearted but I generally don't feel it if we barely know them at all. You should know that when I meanted adopted side, it's the side we see like only once a year on CNY and even then, we don't see them every year. Sometimes, my bro and I choose to stay at home. It's always mum and dad who feels the need to visit them, because in this case the family we're talking about has a disabled daughter and 2 old folks.
After all, mum's adoptive parents passed away wayyyyyyy ages ago. Before she even got married, so I have no clue who they are. And from what I heard they didn't treat mum nicely even. So yea, I'm biased.
But then, to quote mum's words.
I would say you're both bounded too tightly to your values.
But heck, I really respect and love you guys for that. =3
Mum: Is it me, or we seem to be surrounded by a lot of old folks?
Me: Lolness. XD
Me thinks it's because you guys have a soft spot for old folks and those less fortunate than us.
And then just now.
Ching smsed over that Yun Loy passed away.
I'm stunned and seriously shocked.
I signed on to msn and Sir Chung msged over. About Yun Loy. He had epilepsy last night.
omaiomai..........
It's one thing when it concerns people you barely know and another when it concerns a friend you know. After all, Yun Loy is only in his 20's nearing 30's while mum's relatives are quite old.
Yun Loy is a senior of mine in St John, he's was also from Seafield ages back. So yea, both directly and indirect our seniors. Since he's working, he does pop in occasionally in the activities.
My deepest condolences to the families of all three. I'm really very sorry.
Please have the power and strength to move on in life.

You don't have to do to others exactly what they did to you. It's your conscience. If we both don't go, we feel irresponsible.
I would say you're both bounded too tightly to your values.
