Romeo X Juliet epi 10

OMG

The balcony scene was so beautiful.

I can't believe they managed to fit it in, and the background instrumental really adds to the atmosphere.

Loved the white-ish tone of the scene, it makes the whole scene even prettier. XD

Am so so so following the series. So many gorgeous scenes.

Nevermind that I've never read the play, but hey, just about everyone knows the storyline, don't they? XD

I found it amusing that someone posted on the Animesuki forums, that it would seem that the anime will be the story that inspires the play, because of the part where William asks Juliet if he can be given the honor of writing the love story. =3

Anne, anyone?

For the past few days, I was caught up in the lives of fictional characters, made and appropriately crafted into an epic movie mini series. XD

Anne of Green Gables 1985
Anne of Avonlea or Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel 1987
Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story 2000

Inpired by the lovely Anne of Green Gables series written by the talented Lucy Maud Montgomery.

I've had the whole 8 books of the Anne series way back. Collected them during one of those annual MPH warehouse sales.

It never crossed my mind, that my beloved series was ever made into movies, the latest set being 1985, gosh it's older than I am. Until, I stumbled across a kindly individual who uploaded Part 1 and 2 of the movies onto youtube.

I must have streamed the vids like mad. Goodness, the potrayal of the characters was so beautiful, the resemblance, the effort to stay true to the story, it was marvelous. =3

I was amazed, that all three movies had same actor and actress as the main cast. Megan Follows was such a beautiful Anne Shirley and Jonathan Crombie is ever so dashing as Gilbert Blythe. You can really note and feel the chemistry of the love between Anne and Gilbert.

To see the characters you loved age and mature so gracefully, I think the movies have done much justice to the original books. Even though, part 3 is no where near or related to the original series, as it chronicles the drastic search that Anne began for Gilbert when he was MIA during his service in the World War 1.

The war only happened in Book 8, Rilla of Ingleside, the youngest of the 6 children that Gilbert and Anne has. We see through her eyes, how war had affected her youth and lives of those around her. Although both Gilbert and Anne barely makes a mention in the book, it was still fantastic to read more of the lives of their children.

It was also to my surprise to discover that Anne of Green Gables was first published in 1908, 2008 being the 100th year of its publishing. O.o Prince Edward Island, PEI, in Canada has even planned something to celebrate the special occasion.

Gosh, the series I loved is so old kar? *crash*

I truly loved the series, it's a sort of timeless tale which almost every girl would know as a child. Like Cinderella and Heidi. To see it come to live was really really enjoyable.

And I would know, streaming the extra special scenes for a bazillion times. =P The setting in the old times was another attractive factor, you sense that you're being teleported decades back. The clothing, style and fashion was soooooooo pretty at times and otherwise, seems somewhat ridiculous at times. XD

I guess, I still love the books, Anne and Gilbert must have been one of the earliest ships I've hopped upon.

Anyway, still looking for movie 3, although I've seen MVs and trailers, no one has yet to upload them. nnnnooooeeeeeeessssssssssss. And Part 16 of 20 in movie 1 is missing, that is the part where Anne falls into the river, like the most memorable scene, goodness knows why it's missing on youtube. ;o;

I suppose, this post is rather random since I'm rambling on and on about my favourite books. hahaha XD

Fruits Basket

Once a upon a time, I promised to blog about my all-time favourite series, Fruits Basket.

Which I never got around to finishing the crappy review I made >.>

Anyways, let's try again, shall we?

---btw, then photobucket stops being a pain, I'll upload pics XD-------

FRUITS BASKET

This endearing tale tells of a vortex of emotions such insecurity, loneliness, betrayal, abuse, depression and love. I love it that anyone is able to relate to one of the characters, because of the depth of realness it contains.

Wiki says

Fruits Basket (フルーツバスケット Furūtsu Basuketto?) is a shōjo manga series created by Natsuki Takaya (pseudonym) serialized in the semi-monthly Japanese Hana to Yume (Flowers and Dreams) magazine, which is published by Hakusensha. It won the 2001 Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo.

This 23 volumes series is written by Natsuki Takaya. The series spanned from 1999 to 2006, a total of 7 years. There is also a 26 episode anime, which in my opinion is worth watching for the humor it contains, but needs to be followed up by the manga. The anime is was completed when the manga was still on-going, and thus contains an abrupt ending in the midst of volume 8 of the book. Hence, a lot of characterisation and even crucial characters in the series did not managed to make it into the anime.

It starts with the life of Tohru Honda. An orphan, when her mother was killed in a car accident, she moved in with her grandfather. She is shown to be living in a tent and working to support herself when she has to move out when her grandfather's house needed some remodelling work to be done.

Unknownly, she had ventured to camp on Sohma owned property. When she gets discovered, she is offered a spare room in exchange for cooking and housework by Yuki Sohma (her classmate) and Shigure Sohma (a distant cousin of Yuki's). Kyou Sohma soon joins them in the house.

She then stumbles upon a deep dark family secret in which the 3 Sohma are a part of. A curse of the 13 jyuunishis. (zodiac) The usual 12 animals and the outcasted cat. The bond in which the curse weaves upon them and their God.

13 members of the Sohma family are possessed with the spirit of the 12 zodiac and the cat. When hugged by an opposite gender, they will turn into the animals they are possessed with.

Isolated by constantly maintaning a safe distance between them and other people, most of the jyuunishis are emotionally insecure and are unable to learn how to express themselves.

The title, Fruits Basket is further illustrated by the main character, Tohru.

The series is named after a game, Fruits Basket, in which everyone sits in a circle, and the leader of the game names each person after a type of fruit; when the name of a child's fruit is called, that child gets up and has to find a new seat. When Tohru first played this game in kindergarten, she was assigned "Onigiri" (rice ball), which was fine with her, since she always thought that onigiris are delicious. However, everyone but her was called, and she was the only one left sitting when she realized that an onigiri isn't a fruit and that she'd never be called. She was purposefully excluded from the game; another of the mean tricks that other kids used to pull on her. She realizes that an onigiri can never belong in a Fruits Basket. Then Tohru starts feeling like she belongs in the Sohma clan. There is one part where onigiri is called and she runs up to play with her classmates. It means she starts feeling like she isn't the onigiri that is left out, but somebody that actually has a place where she belongs, hence the name Fruits Basket.
~ wikipedia

How symbolical that Tohru would become the very person who will provide the other jyunishis a place they will belong. As unrealistic as it is, to have a person who is also Goddess-like in her willingness to accept everything and everyone, she becomes the light of their lives.

Also, there is that constant love triangle between Tohru, Yuki and Kyou. A triangle which provides both pairings equal lovey dovey scenes, which will have you rooting for one couple or the other. It is only solved much much later in the series. =P

The art is very clean and neat. Not your usual shoujo art, with bright sparkly eyes, nopes. In fact, Takaya sensei has a very distinguishable art. You'll also notice the difference in her artwork as the series progresses, because she underwent a hand surgery during that period.

Each character has their own distinct style of clothing, and you can notice the various fashions as you read on. It's amazing, how much effort is put into designing new clothes, as the characters never seem to be wearing the same thing each time.

I love the fact that Takaya sensei made the effort to show us how much the characters grow from who they were before. Not only do they learn to love and be loved, they also matured in terms of age. this can be seen by the change in clothings and height as the series progresses.

There are various other characters, other than the jyuunishis, and all of them play a part in the story. You'll grow to love the other couples which emerges from the story as you read on the understand their past.

It is the sense of reality that we share with the characters. There are a lot of sad scenes in the story, which will make you feel like crying. I would know, because I actually did cry. ;o; But don't worry, there is an equal amount of joyful scenes as well.

I've followed this story from 2002. A total of 5 years, seriously. Much thank you for Reiki for intro-ing it to me. XD Because I love this story so so much.

I joined a forum because of the series and even though that forum is now gone, it was a life changing experience, because I met a lot of friends there. Truly memorable, even as I've lost contact with them.

PS- Did you know my nick originated from this series? XD Well, now you do.
PSS- The opening and ending song of the anime is sung by the late Ritsuko Okazaki

TIME (magazine): What do you want your readers to feel or understand from reading your manga?

NT (Natsuki Takaya): Above and beyond drawing my creations, I try to incorporate some kind of message. I try not to end as merely a question but try to provide a conclusion within the work. Furthermore, I try not to supplement this understanding outside of the work. This is because I believe that readers are free to respond to the work in their own way and that this is part of the pleasure... Of course, there are unintended misunderstandings and the occasional thing that completely confuses, but as much as possible, I want to value the sensitivity of all readers.

Yattaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Holy crappppp.

I passed Auditing. \(' _ ') /

Which I seriously thought I flunked because I was stumped at the questions and was near brain meltdown.

So much so, that I told my parents, to expect that I failed.

A close shave with the pass I got, BUT I passedddddddddddddddd.

*still can't believe it*

Small Biz went as expected, since it centers mostly on the assignment.
Also finished with Cost Mgmt, it took 2 tries.....yes, I failed the last sem, so it's a retake. ;o;

And now for FM, which I think I can pass....but but results aren't out yet.

*checks the online enrolment page every day*

pleasepleasepleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Need of new adjustments?

Me thinks one of Sam's godbrothers dropped by and suggested a name change.

Sheeplicious Oh, it's actually sheepalicious. I phail at spelling.

Iunno, kinda seems a bit corny with the net full of -licious blog titles mushrooming.

hmmmmm~

Can't really judge when I'm totally clueness with naming things, hence the random title above. ^^;;

Keep or no keep, dears? XD

Mayb there a line in your template that needs to change for the blogger header to come back ^^

Probably so, but but I have no clue which line I have to change........<.<

YehYeh's B'dae

Another one was up. Just on the 9th even though the actual date was a day later.

This was particularly memorable because there was a huge group of us. SumSum and my 2 cousins from Kuching were back for the hols. I hadn't seen them in ages, seeing how the last year end hols, I was busy with the summer course. It was really nice to be able to catch them before they were due to head back the next evening.

Also, it brings back memories. Regardless of how we sometimes bicker, this was the cousin, we were most close to, in terms of ages and the countless year end hols we spent together. I said we, because I included my bro in the equation. She's about 2 years younger than him.
And she is now taller than me.

ORZ

I feel horribly short, being the shortest when I'm the older of us three.

Compared to the other cousins, we were certainly the closest trio. It's weird how we grew apart as time went.

In some ways, when I started chatting with her during dinner, we were the loudest of the table (there were 2 tables, the other one being mostly of the adults) I guess, there was so many things to catch up, we almost talked the night away, when we returned to YehYeh's later on for the cake.

Not only us, the house was really lively. It was near having the complete family, with

YehYeh, MaMa, DaiGuMa, SarmGuMa, SeiGuMa, Susan JehJeh and her husband, my dad and his brood, Hoong SokSok and his brood and Loy SokSok and his brood.

Wows.

It was really nice, togather and talk, to tuck away all the unecessary family arguments, and just be a family. >o<

YLeng, Fai and I were busy chatting as a group, gossiping about school and the teachers. =P

shhhhhhh, it's secret between you and me.

And the end of it, my bro mentioned.

You both seemed a little bit sarcastic, what with the evil laughter and giggling.

Ohoho~

Backtracking

It takes a wee bit of time to gain that blogging mood and before it does, all the happenings on life remains unrecorded. XD Not that I mind, after all, this blog is longest one I've kept and bothered to update. Tried keeping a diary back in the secondary days, but the most I've kept it was a little bit more than a month. Hah. Figures.

Let's see. It's been a pretty interesting week right after my finals finished.

First up was Nic's B'dae, then YLian's B'dae and the Bakefest. =3

I think I overate.

Oh well.

KLeong and I co-organised for Nic's B'dae this time. It was about time actually, seeing how almost everyone in the usual group have gotten theirs celebrated at least once in these 2 years. I bet it was worth waiting, since 21 is a special number? XD

What started as a movie outing, turned into a large gathering. Took a bit of persuading since most of them wasn't able to make it for the movie, and managed to get them to attend the lunch gathering instead. Since it all came together the last minute, I was running around quite a bit on that day, what with the present, dad's car, tickets and so. Thank you, peeps. >o<

I would say that Shrek 3 isn't as good as it's previous sequel, but it still has its corny one-liners. XD

YLian's was pretty much done by the main DEC members. It was a sort-of scolding cum party thing. LoL. Quite a bit of disappointed that the OUG didn't work out. Loads of camwhoring happened. And Ping's 2 babies were sooooooo adorable. *rabu-rabued them* Pingness was so sweet to host the whole thing and we even managed to crammed almost 20-ish of us I think. DD;

I love how they appreciated their board members, even when she originated from another school. Goes to show how much they've accepted her as one of their own. =3 Thinking back, the previous board had a headache figuring out if the current board was able to co-operate, a task which is now passed on to the current board, since it's nearing the AGM.

Things will probably work out fine, sometimes it takes a bit of time and communication to get the ball rolling.

The bakefest was delicious. We mostly ate what we baked, chatted and ate somemore. ORZ. A total of 9 hours. Thanks, Ann for hosting it, even when we messed up the kitchen and hogged it for that 9 hours. XD And HJ for letting me fool around with your wife. =P

It was nice to chat, seeing how some of them had a lot of emo to share around. I think some of us played the role of a counselor, in anyway, having someone to listen to your problems is sometimes more than enough.

2 chocolate cakes + 1 pavlova + 1 bag of chocochip oatmeat cookies = me
