Price war.
Bet you've heard about the hypermarkets versus the bookstores thing.
Yea well. I got my hands on the hypermarkets version which was rm40 cheaper. Honestly, I was put off from per-ordering the books this time because of the super high price. And I'm not bias, because I had per-ordered both books 5 and 6. (and maybe book 4 as well)
I do enjoy reading, but when the prices of a book seems pretty unreasonable, I figured I would wait until it drops a little lower before completing my set. I usually get my books from MPH warehouse sales and those places. We were encouraged to read and mum and dad usually makes the effort to take us to those places and allow us to grab a couple of books to last us the year, or until the next sale. =P
But when mum smses Friday morning that it's up for sale at rm69.90. I went O.O Dears, it's way cheaper than having my pre-ordered book 5 and 6. Yea.
And since dad was going to drive my cousin who was going back to Melbourne with another aunt, to the airport and my bro and I decided to tag along for the farewell, I figured might as well go grab the book and head back to bed. =3
Except that we came back around 10am and that I got sorely tempted to read the whole book and I did finish the book in about 2-3 hours. Yea. XD
My reasoning was.....the book was way cheaper at Carrefour and we're already awake anyway. And if we don't get it quick, according to the papers, there was only limited stock. So yea, managed to bug my bro to tag along with me to grab the book. XD Tag, because the only ones in the house who's reading the book is mum and me. Bro didn't manage to finish book 5, never started book 6 and isn't exactly bothered about it.
Btw, ever since I finished and passed the book over to mum, she's been reading it. And is still downstairs with it. XD I kinda speedread through, and will reread it again later.
urmm.....read NO further if you're not into spoilers. I just want a little personal space to rant out some thoughts. XD
(highlight the white to read)
There wasn't much about Harry, Ron and Hermione in Hogwarts, because they were kept busy with what Dumbledore entrusted to them. The Horcruxes.
Neville turned up to be the most unexpected hero. XD Seriously. He became the leader of the remaining DA.
The Deathly Hallows was a reference to a legendary story about the 3 brothers. Each whom have asked Death for an object and died by Death's hands, with the exception of the third brother.
So basically, Voldermort was also after these 3 objects.
The random deaths list is O.o
OMG...Fred, Tonks, Lupin, Mad Eye, Dobby.......and Snape. And Hedwig.
The whole Snape/Lily backstory was really sad, it's kinda mostly the part I teared up with. I mean, here's the guy who's been misunderstood like the whole series. He's been one of the bravest ones. uwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
He must have really really loved her since they seem to have meet even as children yet accepted into Hogwarts. To go to all these lengths to protect her only son. DD:
Lupin and Tonks. WTF....
They died together somewhat, in the midst of the great battle. No other details. But to have left their newborn son, all orphaned. T^T Teddyyyyyyyyy.
We learnt more about Dumbledore, so much so that he became to feel more as a human, instead of a grand master wizard who can do nothing wrong. That and his whole aim, for the greater good thing.
There's way too much going on to be put into words.
All in all, I really did enjoy the book. Compared to Book 6, it was much more enjoyable and thrilling. Dark yes, but the tone was necessary to give the series it's grand finale. Oh, and be warily that you'll probably be crying by the 3rd quarter of the book. Book 6 was the book which I was able to read half and left it hanging for like a week later to complete it.
Book 7 was packed with a lot of excitement. I kinda pity anyone taking up the challenge of turning this book into a movie, that's seriously a killer task. XD
Oh and the epilogue was rather off for me. I would love to know what happened to more people than just the main characters. XD What's with the 19 years later thing >.> Why 19?
